TEAS 7 Science: practice questions and study guide

The TEAS 7 Science section has 50 questions in 60 minutes — the most of any section. Anatomy & Physiology carries the largest share, followed by Biology, Chemistry and Scientific Reasoning. Expect body systems, cells and genetics, basic chemistry, and questions about experiments and data.

How to score higher

  • Prioritize anatomy & physiology: it's the biggest slice of the section.
  • Learn each body system as a story: structures → function → how it keeps homeostasis.
  • For genetics, practice Punnett squares until monohybrid crosses take under a minute.
  • In scientific reasoning, identify the independent and dependent variables first.
  • At about 72 seconds per question, don't let one tricky item eat your time — flag it.

Question 1Anatomy & Physiology
Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) causes the kidneys to:
Show answer and explanation

Answer: C. ADH increases water reabsorption in the collecting ducts, conserving water and concentrating the urine.

Question 2Biology
Enzymes speed up chemical reactions by:
Show answer and explanation

Answer: B. Enzymes are biological catalysts that lower activation energy. They are not used up in the reaction.

Question 3Chemistry
Which of these is a chemical change?
Show answer and explanation

Answer: C. Rusting forms a new substance (iron oxide). The others change only physical form.

Question 4Scientific Reasoning
Which of the following is an inference rather than an observation?
Show answer and explanation

Answer: B. An inference is a conclusion drawn from observations. Dark urine, a fast heart rate and dry lips are observations that support the inference of dehydration.

Question 5Anatomy & Physiology
Which substance would normally NOT be found in the urine of a healthy person?
Show answer and explanation

Answer: A. Glucose is normally fully reabsorbed. Glucose in urine (glycosuria) can indicate high blood sugar, as in uncontrolled diabetes.

Question 6Biology
Why can very high fever be dangerous to cells?
Show answer and explanation

Answer: D. High temperatures disrupt the bonds that hold an enzyme's 3D shape, so its active site no longer works.
